January Wrap-Up

My January book experience was... mostly audiobooks. Partly because I commuted a lot on a school bus (my university bus is a school bus with seats spaced for children 4 ft. tall or less) and audiobooks are great for that! Also for walking and grocery shopping. Basically if I'm out of the house and not in class, I'm listening to an audiobook.

In Conclusion

January was fine! I'm on track for my Goodreads challenge, and I've made progress on a lot of them. I listened to so, so many audiobooks, and I really enjoyed a lot of them. I need to do better at reviewing things in a timely manner though, because I managed to complete very few reviews for the books I read, so I'm skipping into February with a backlog.

  1. I loved The Wicked King! It's going to be a long wait for The Queen of Nothing -- ugh. I read Renegades awhile back and enjoyed that one, too. I haven't had a chance to read Archenemies. How was it? As good as the first? Better?

    1. I enjoyed Archenemies more than Renegades but they did kind of blend for me because I picked up Renegades again right before Archenemies.

    1. Audiobooks were definitely my friend this month! I actually read a lot fewer physical books than I ordinarily would, but I still got to experience so many stories! I did enjoy What If It's Us... I should actually get together a review of that...

  3. Commuting on a school bus and listening to audio - I agree, a great use of time. ;)

"I need to do better at reviewing things in a timely manner though, because I managed to complete very few reviews for the books I read, so I'm skipping into February with a backlog." That's a big mood, Kelly. Lately I've been reviewing weeks later, which isn't exactly fun, haha. It's good to hear you're on track with your reading goal on Goodreads! Kicking it off with a strong start. :D

    1. I feel like some books demand a little time before reviewing ( Braiding Sweetgrass was like that for me in January) but not all of them do and mostly I put them off because... I am a gremlin. That's the only possible explanation.

  4. King of Scars is one I'm eyeing, but I still haven't finished the Grisha Trilogy, so I have to do that first. I hope you enjoy your February!

    1. Yeah, I feel like (unlike for Six of Crows) the Grisha trilogy IS kind of required reading for King of Scars. Hope you get a chance to pick them up, I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  5. yesss to audiobooks! I LOVE them, although I haven't been listening as much lately. But last time I was on a plan I just about powered through a whole one, which is really handy because I can't read physical books for motion sickness sakes. I'm glad you read so many epic titles last month!

    1. Audiobooks are fantastic for so many reasons! I sometimes have to deal with motion sickness as well if I try to read in a moving vehicle. Also it allows me to engage in two hobbies at once:books and staring out the window at passing scenery. (Is that a hobby? I'm pretty sure it is.)

  6. Woah! Soooo many books! You got through so many audiobooks as well... I'm curious, where do you find the time? I always find that I can only get through a couple a month. Also I love the bingo boards!! Did you make them yourself?

    1. Two secret methods to finish Many Audiobooks: 1) I spend two hours a day (and change) on a bus, five days a week, on top of listening to them while I walk and while running errands 2) I listen to them faster than the recorded speed... I find for most audiobooks 1.5x-2x speed works best for me because it's closer to the speed present in most of my conversations. I'm actually putting together a post about audiobooks because they're becoming more and more of a thing for me.

The bingo cards are a part of one of the challenges I'm participating in! A Dance with Books put them together for the fantasy and sci-fi challenge she's hosting.

  7. Looks like you had a successful reading month, so that's awesome. I wish I could do audiobooks, but I just can't focus. haha
