Top Ten Hyped Books I've Never Read

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly feature created at The Broke and The Bookish.

1. Divergent by Veronica Roth: I'm just not intrigued by it somehow. I seems like it ought to be up my alley, but it simply isn't.

2. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green: Never ever. I don't know, I'm just not remotely interested.

3. The Maze Runner by James Dashner: I just never got around to it.

4. Ready Player One by Earnest Cline: This one sounds quite enjoyable, and it is on my extended TBR, but it just somehow hasn't been near the top just yet.

5. The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken: I keep almost picking it up, but I still haven't. I just haven't been in the mood for it, I suppose.

6. Not A Drop To Drink by Mindy McGinus: It sounds interesting, but a little grim, and I need to be in the mood for a good post-apocalyptic novel.

7. The Diviners by Libba Bray: I tried starting this once, but I just don't think I was in the mood for it, I'm planning to give it another try.

8. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern: I've just never gotten into it, though I tried starting it, it came due to the library before I got very far.

9. The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne M. Valente: This sounds charming, and whimsical.

10. Of Poseidon by Anna Banks: I've heard good things, so maybe one day...

  1. All right so I really enjoyed Divergent, but wasn't to thrilled with the second book, and I have yet to read the last because I know what happens.

The Darkest Minds I loved to pieces, but I'm also a fan of special powers.

TFioS was meh for me. I enjoyed the movie more.

Not a drop to drink was pretty good.

as for the others most of them I have on my shelf or kindle so maybe I'll get around to them.

    1. A lot of the books on this list are ones that I'm hoping to get to at some point- The Darkest Minds and Not a Drop to Drink for sure. That said I doubt I'll ever read Divergent, and The Fault in Our Stars is just something that hasn't ever appealed to me.

      Happy reading!

  2. I've only read three from the list so I guess I'm not much better off than you :) I did love TFiOS (read with tissues) and Not a Drop to Drink was very different, but good too. I hope you read some of these.

    1. I think that The Fault in Our Stars really isn't my cup of tea- John Green's writing isn't something that really works for me- but Not a Drop to Drink is on my extended TBR list.

  3. Oh god, Divergent, The Darkest Minds, and The Night Circus all stole my heart! I'm begging you to read them, they are all so amazing, really. The Maze Runner wasn't my cup of tea, though. The writing is off and I forced myself halfway through the sequel before I had to stop. TFIOS I have read and liked, but not nearly as much as everyone else. I like John Green's books, but I'm not obsessed with them like so many others. Something about his writing is almost pretentious and I'm just not a fan.

    1. I don't think I'll ever pick of Divergent, but The Darkest Minds, and The Night Circus are eventualities. I'm not a huge fan of John Green's work- his writing just doesn't hit the right cords for me.

  4. I've read some of these myself:

Divergent: Thought it was okay, but disliked book two and hated book three and wouldn't really recommend the series
The Fault in Our Stars: Read it and thought it was okay, but overrated.
The Maze Runner: HATED IT!!! Don't get what the fuss is about. I did really enjoy the movie though.
Not a Drop to Drink: Was surprised by just how much I loved this book/

Hope you enjoy some of these if you ever get to them :)

    1. Some of the books on this list are ones that I will never get around to, but quite a few are books I'm looking forward to reading at some point in the future, though a lot aren't on immediate horizon.
