Top Ten Resolutions I Have For 2016

Top Ten Tuesdays is a weekly feature created at The Broke and The Bookish.

A lot of these are going to be a hold-over from last year, because I'm not excellent at New Years resolutions:

1. Do more reading challenges. Even if I don't succeed at all of them, it pushes me a little out of my reading comfort zone. Perhaps not the Goodreads challenge though...

2. Comment more. I still feel sort of weird about commenting on other people's blogs? Is that just me? (Because, you know, if you feel weird about commenting on my blog, you'll obviously comment to let me know. That's clearly how things work.)

3. Organise my Goodreads. I have reviews that I haven't posted on Goodreads, I have duplicates in my lists... suffice to say it isn't exactly pretty over there.

4. Do more non-review posts. I didn't do enough posts that were just spontaneous, one-off posts this year, but I enjoyed the ones that I did (like this one... I got to show off my amazing skills with Microsoft Paint too).

And I have some new ones:

5. Read more non-fiction. I read a little nonfiction this year, and I've really enjoyed it so far (popular science).

6. I really need to post reviews more often. I feel as though I've fallen out of the habit recently, and I'd like to review a lot more in the next year.

7. Read more, even when things are busy. Even when I'm busy, I really want to find time to read, because its really something that a enjoy.

8. Maybe throw in a couple non-book posts now and then?

9. More book events, if I can. I really enjoyed the Book Blog Ontario meet-up this year, and I'd like to go again.

10. Related to doing more challenges, do monthly updates on my challenges.

  1. I don't feel odd commenting on others blogs, but I do know bloggers who do. It all comes down to what a blogger is comfortable with. I think for me, it helps that I surround myself with like-minded bloggers and stay primarily in the book community. :)

Doing more discussion posts has been something I've considering for a long time - someday, perhaps I will.

    Good luck, Kelly! :)

    1. Discussion posts are something that I enjoy doing, but I somehow don't end up doing many of them. I think it might be because they haven't, in the past, been a scheduled thing for me (like TTT) or something that I do frequently with the same purpose (like reviews).

  2. I would love to find more book events to attend in my area.

    Check out my TTT.

    1. Depending on where you live it can be pretty difficult (or sometimes impossible) to find book events.

  3. I definitely need to organise Goodreads better! I'm shocking at it! Good luck with your resolutions.

    1. I know I resolved to do it last year, but I somehow didn't get around to it (okay, fine, I procrastinated doing it). But this year, I'm challenging myself to get it done by May, so we'll see where that goes.

  4. Commenting more is something I need to work on too. I know exactly how you feel, because I feel that way when commenting and when just speaking in general. I kind of feel like I am interrupting or something. Funnily enough I no long have that issue with TTT's because I force myself each week (when I do them) to just continue to comment on peoples lists until I am literally feel like my brain has gone on a holiday because its sick of doing things. It takes hours, but I have talked to way more people this way. The fact that so many other people comment on everyones lists helps. Good luck!

    1. I know its kind of a silly thing, because, obviously, blog posts are designed to have a discussion component, but it still sometimes feels sort of weird. TTT really is excellent for starting discussions, though. Its one of my favourite things about it!

  5. I would also like to post a few non book posts on my blog. I just need to get up the nerve!
    Good Luck!

    1. I feel like it might be nice to occasionally have a break in the flow of bookish posts (not that those aren't great).

  6. Ha! I can relate to having a tough time commenting on blogs. I don't feel like that now, but I sure used to. I guess that's part of being a book nerd introvert.
I just finished going through my Goodreads and doing some housekeeping. It feels good.
I wish you all the best with your 2016 goals.

    1. Congrats on getting your Goodreads sorted! I'm really looking forward to getting that done (it is so far past time for me to get it organised...)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  7. I also want to aim for more discussion and non-book related posts as well as more reviews-I guess blogging more overall? Haha. When I have the time I enjoy commenting because it's a great way to make connections :) Thanks for stopping by my post!

    1. I do want to blog more overall- I feel like I sometimes get out of the flow of blogging, and I'd really like to avoid that this year. I think I'm getting a bit better at commenting, recently, and it feels less strange, which has been nice.
