Top Ten Books On My Fall 2018 TBR
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.
1. The Lady's Guide to Petticoats and Piracy by Mackenzi Lee: Gentleman's Guide was one of my favourite reads last year and Felicity was a really important character to me.
2. West by Edith Pattou: East has a sequel coming out! Rose and her chronically-in-need-of-rescue husband return!
3. Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor: Strange the Dreamer was really lovely and talk about a cliffhanger!
4. Chainbreaker by Tara Sim: I keep forgetting to get around to this one, so I figured I'd put it here in hopes that I will remember to read it.
5. The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal: I was super excited about this, and then I bought it, and now it is just hanging out on my shelf.
6. A Thousand Beginnings and Endings edited by Ellen Oh and Elise Chapman: I still haven't read this! I borrowed if from the library but had to return it before picking it up.
7. Jade City by Fonda Lee: I've seen this around a bit and it sounds really interesting!
8. The Alchemists of the Loom by Elise Kova: Okay this is 90% because the cover is pretty and the concept is cool. Also the audiobooks is available from my library.
9. Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi: CONSIDER THIS A PUBLIC SHAMING OF ME, A PERSON WHO PREORDERED THIS AND HASN'T READ IT.
10. The Poppy War by R.F. Kuang: Another library book that had to be returned before I read it. It's becoming a bad habit with me...

A Thousand Beginnings and Endings sounds really interesting - love the title. I've heard 'Blood and Bone' is a great read, but haven't read it either. :)
ReplyDeleteThey've both been on my TBR list for WAY too long... it's kind of a problem. If you do read either of them, I'd love to hear what you think!
DeleteI have been hearing some of the most amazing things about The Calculating Stars. I picked it up on audio (the author narrates it!) so I also hope I can get to it soon. The Poppy War was another I picked up recently and everyone's been raving about it too. So many books, so little time. :)
ReplyDelete"So many books, so little time"- is a mood. I didn't know the author read the audiobook! I don't think I've ever listened to an audiobook that the author narrated.
DeleteOmg, I am so bad about returning unread books to the library too!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited that a sequel is coming out for East (and with such a pretty cover too!). I really need to go reread East though because it's been at least 6 years since I last read it, whoops...
Here's a link to my TTT post if ya wanna check it out:

Hey fellow East reader! I haven't encountered a lot of people who've read it... (Also same about the reread, it has been a long time...)
DeleteI did the same with The Calculating Stars. I was so excited, and now it's just sitting there...
ReplyDeleteThe stars are not in the right position for us to read it right now, that's all. (See what I did there? I'm hilarious.)
DeleteLooks like you've got a great range of books to get stuck into! Enjoy. My TTT
ReplyDeleteThere are... a lot there, it's true. THERE ARE SO MANY BOOKS IN THE WORLD.
DeleteA thousand Beginnings and Endings sound great, I've been wanting to get that one. I'm starting to really like anthologies and collected story editions more and more. And Jade City I forgot about, but I was kind of excited when that came out too! Glad to be reminded of it. :)
ReplyDeleteI feel like I haven't quite hit my stride with anthologies of short stories yet (too used to full-length novels, I guess?), but I REALLY want to because there are so many fantastic concepts out there... and this one sounds fantastic, so I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.
DeleteThe Ladies Guide is one I pre-ordered! Hoping to get to it asap but we'll see how life goes, haha. A Thousand Beginnings and Endings is on my Fall TBR as well. I'm usually not a big fan of short story collections, but since some friends really have been hyping it up.. I couldn't resist buying myself a copy!
ReplyDeleteHope you love Children of Blood and Bone!
Here's my TTT with my Autumn TBR, goals and bucket list should you be interested. :D

I think Lady's Guide is going to be one of those books that makes schoolwork and responsibilities take a back seat for a bit... (I'm just going to have to plan ahead for that one, because no doubt it'll happen. I am not excellent at tearing my focus away from things I'm reading. It's a bit of a problem.)
DeleteLady's Guide is on my TBR too :D Also, I can totally understand not reading the book even though you pre-ordered it. I have so many such books on my shelf :P But you have to read CoBaB. It is amazing.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy all of these books.

It's good to know I'm not the only one who occasionally just... doesn't read their preorders right away. I'm glad I have it, though, so when I'm in the mood to jump into a new fantasy series, it'll be there.
DeleteMuse of Nightmares and The Poppy War are on my list as well. I recently finished Children of Blood and Bone and absolutely loved it - it's completely deserving of all the hype it's received. I hope you enjoy it too!

I'm looking forward to reading it! (At some point. When the mood strikes. Ideally when I am NOT juggling a lot of school work but we'll see.)
DeleteMuse of Nightmares is on my list this week too. I can't wait to read more from this world. It is so immersive! And that cliffhanger...I'm dying to know what happens next! Hope you enjoy these :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT.
It was a... disorienting kind of cliffhanger, I guess. I'm going to have to reread Strange the Dreamer before going into Muse, but I'm kind of looking forward to doing that as well. Hopefully Muse goes well for both of us!
DeleteI've not read any of these, but I've heard of a few. I'll have to check them out! Here is our Top Ten Tuesday
ReplyDeleteI've found that right now my TBR has more already-released books than I was expecting! I guess that means I'm getting behind (or maybe that I'm just digging through archives... who can say?)
DeleteI've pre-ordered Muse of Nightmares, so guess what I'm reading October 2nd? And probably 3rd too, her books are pretty big.
ReplyDeleteI was planning on reading The Poppy War this summer, but then all these library books started coming in and I had to postpone those plans (I bought it when it was on sale a couple of months ago). Children of Blood and Bone is on my fall TBR too; I have it on hold at the library.
I admire your ability to prioritise your library books over books you actually own... I've never quite gotten the hang of it, hence some of my library books going back untouched (as I reread The Goblin Emperor for the 8th time...)
DeleteI really enjoyed both Children of Blood and Bone and Chainbreaker, so I hope you do too!

Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteChildren of Blood and Bone is on my TBR too! I didn't preorder it like you did, but I did buy a copy in the middle of the hype for it and then just never read it, oops 😂
ReplyDelete*high fives you* Hey fellow person who has not read CoBaB despite owning it already!
DeleteI preordered Lady’s Guide, and I’m super excited for it! I hope we both like it.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
Hopefully! I'm so looking forward to revisiting Felicity!
DeleteI LOVED the audiobook of Alchemists of Loom. I highly recommend it.
ReplyDeleteThat's great to hear! I'll definitely give it a try at some point.
